Free Shipping via USPS Priority Mail in the USAOld Fork in Sterling Silver, made in Paris by the master silversmith Pierre Nicolas Somme over 200 years ago. There is some expected wear for such an old item, but nothing major. Weighs approx. 77 grams.
Hallmarks: A crowned charge punch for the city of Paris, discharge punch, illegible Jurande punch. Third registered Hallmark of the master silversmith Pierre Nicolas Somme, acorn with a star on either side, initials PNS used 1800-1806. The silver standard mark of a standing cock facing left with the number 1 in an octagonal reserve, used for Paris from 1798-1809, and also denotes that this piece has a silver content of at least 950/1000. The guarantee mark is there, but very rubbed.
On the back of the fork, there is a monogram "CS", and 3 engraved dates 1820, 1865, and 1905 that were obviously of some importance to the owner's family. There is also an "S" engraved on the handle. Usually this was an ownership mark.
Somme first registered a mark in 1760. This third mark was registered in 1800 and ended before 30 September 1806, when he retired to Versailles. He died on 15 July 1809.

,
it shows that Thomas Jefferson owned some cutlery that Somme made, he documented that he bought it in Paris in 1874. He brought it back to America and used it for the rest of his life.
